Our History

The heritage of GRACosway extends over five decades, with the founding of a firm specialising in advising leading Australian companies on media and issues management.
Our public affairs practice commenced more than 20 years ago in Sydney and has since expanded its footprint across each of Australia’s major capital cities.
Founded 50 years ago by Jack Porter and Bill Novelli, Porter Novelli is widely considered to be the founder of social marketing.
Its first major client was the National Institute of Health, and with their first project, devised what is commonly known today as the Food Pyramid.

Trailblazers of their time, both Jack and Bill believed that organisations could, and should, be driven by their values, not just by creating value; something intrinsic to how we do business today.

In New Zealand, Porter Novelli is one of the country’s longest standing and most recognised public relations agencies. Our history in Aotearoa dates back to 1976 and over the course of our history, we have delivered some of the country’s most celebrated public relations work for New Zealand and international brands, and nurtured many industry leaders.

Part of the Clemenger Group, Australasia’s most successful marketing communications company, our ability to draw on best practice through our network is unrivalled in the New Zealand market and we love sharing this connected brilliance with our clients.
